Hair Transplant Option

Hair Transplant Option | Medical Spa | Schaumburg | Chicago

Aging, genetics, illness, and nutrition issues are some of the factors that may lead to hair loss among men and women. Extensive medical research has been carried out in recent decades to find effective solutions for hair restoration. One of the most compelling, minimally invasive med spa techniques for hair restoration that has emerged now is platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy.

During the initial consultation for PRP, the provider will educate the patient about various aspects of the procedure and compare its pros and cons against other hair restoration options. The first goal of a responsible provider will always be to help the patient make a well-considered decision. Sky Balance Medical Spa, led by experienced physician Dr. Sameer Naseeruddin, provides PRP therapy for hair re-growth to patients in Schaumburg, Chicago, IL, and surrounding locations.

What is PRP?

PRP therapy is a highly promising new med spa procedure designed to generate the growth of hair in a natural way. With a number of celebrities embracing PRP procedure and positive media attention, an increasing number of people are now willing to receive PRP therapy as a credible solution for hair re-growth. The therapy involves the use of natural growth factors drawn from patient’s own blood platelets to treat hair loss.

Research studies have shown that PRP growth factors can curb progressive hair loss and promote the natural growth of new hair. These growth factors work in similar way to stem cell therapy. Patient’s own plasma is delivered to the affected areas of the scalp through needles. Results of this technique have been highly encouraging. Sky Balance medical spa receives patients from Schaumburg, Chicago, IL, and nearby areas for PRP therapy.

Procedure

The PRP used in this hair restoration procedure is autologous in character, which means it is a derivative of the patient’s own blood. A small amount of blood is drawn from the patient’s body and spun in a centrifuge. The centrifugal process enables separation of the liquid and solid parts of the blood. Key platelet activators such as thrombin, calcium chloride, and collagen are added to the PRP.

The solid component of the blood, which is the PRP with growth activators, is then delivered into the targeted site of hair loss with the help of small injections. If the patient is undergoing a more invasive hair transplant procedure, the PRP may be sprayed over the affected area.

PRP injections may be scheduled at intervals of three to nine months to stimulate continuous hair growth. Most patients will experience significant improvement within the first two to six months. The provider may recommend the patient to receive periodic PRP treatments in order to help maintain the improvement in a more sustainable manner.

How does PRP Work?

The growth of hair follicles in a healthy person is boosted with the absorption of oxygen from the surrounding tissue areas. The PRP hair restoration therapy reinforces the affected area of the scalp with white blood cells and platelets enriched with growth factors. This helps to trigger the natural occurrence of the wound healing process, and supports the growth of new hair.
